Since 1991, Friends of the Rouge Watershed has been advocating for the protection of the Rouge National Urban Park.

How we make a difference.

Protection

FRW partners with communities and volunteers to protect and restore ecosystems, watersheds, and human health. We promote science-based stewardship and support conservation efforts in Rouge National Urban Park, the Greenbelt, and the Oak Ridges Moraine.

Education

We lead nature walks, workshops, and community events that connect people —especially youth — with the environment. Through hands-on learning and volunteer opportunities, we help grow the next generation of environmental leaders.

Restoration

We work with volunteers to restore forests, wetlands, streams, and meadows—bringing nature back to health. Together, we improve water quality, support biodiversity, and take action on challenges like habitat loss, invasive species, pollution, and climate change.

Monitoring

We team up with partners to monitor the health of our watersheds, ecosystems, parks, and communities. By sharing what we learn, we help guide better decisions for a healthier environment.
